Before Your Visit

There are a few things to do before you arrive at Rockburn for your first climbing session or course. Click the heading that relates to you:

– Competent climber

– Over 18s

– Under 18s

– Teen Club

– Parent and Child

– Attending and Instructed Session (e.g. Induction, Taster Session)

– Attending a Toddler Session


Competent Climber…

You are a climber with regular previous experience within the last 2 years at either other centres or outdoors.  You need to:

  1. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Individual HERE (opens a new tab)
  2. Attend Rockburn and complete the competence quiz/talk
  3. Pay your Rock Registration for the year
  4. Choose whether you want to Just Climb!, Pay-As-You-Go or partake of one of our subscribed plans
  5. Climb and get Rockburn…

Over 18’s Novice

You are a novice climber who would like to start climbing at Rockburn with little/no previous experience.  You Need to:

  1. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Individual HERE (opens a new tab)
  2. Phone Rockburn and book into an Induction session
  3. Complete an Instructed Session Form HERE (opens a new tab)
  4. On your 1st climbing visit, pay your Rock registration for the year
  5. Choose whether you want to subscribe or Pay-As-You-Go
  6. Ask about our Beginners Development Course to develop some new skills!

Under 18’s Novice

Options to use the centre for you are:

1) You can attend one of our T’n drop-in sessions provided you are between 13-17 years of age (see below), or,

2) a parent or responsible adult will need to accompany you to Rockburn; refer them to either the ‘Competent Climber’ or ‘Over 18’s’ section, whichever is relevant to their experience, or,

3) book an indoor session with an instructor  – check out our indoor sessions and courses here.

Teen Club

You are a novice climber aged 13-17 years of age who would like to start climbing at Rockburn with little/no previous experience.  You Need to:

  1. Phone Rockburn and book into your first T’n Club (parents are required to attend for the first 15 minutes of your first session)
  2. Ask your parents to complete the Online Digital Waiver – Parent/Guardian HERE (opens a new tab)
  3. Ask your parents to complete an Instructed Session Form HERE (opens a new tab)
  4. On your 1st climbing visit, there is 1 additional paper form and a mini-induction to complete prior to climbing
  5. After your initial visit, you can arrive for any T’n Club without booking and join the fun – it costs £10 per session with all kit provided.

Parent and Child

You are a parent wanting to bring a child to climb at Rockburn.  you need to:

  1. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Individual HERE (opens a new tab)
  2. Phone Rockburn and book into an Induction session
  3. Complete an Instructed Session Form HERE (opens a new tab)
  4. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Parent/Guardian HERE (opens a new tab)
  5. On your 1st climbing visit, pay your Rock registration for the year
  6. Once you have completed your induction and paid the Rock registration, you are allowed to bring 2 children over 6 years, or  1 child under 6 years old to Rockburn under your supervision [you will be with them 100% of the time, supervising their climbing and taking responsibility for their participation].

Attending an Instructed Session

[Instructed sessions – centre inductions, taster sessions, holiday clubs, coaching sessions, NIBAS sessions, after-school clubs, youth climbing clubs: any session that is led by one of Rockburns instructors]

  1. Phone Rockburn and book into the required session
  2. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE – Complete an Instructed Session Form HERE (opens a new tab)
  3. If you printed the Instructed Session Form, bring it with you to the session and hand in at reception before your session begins

Attending a Toddler Session

  1. Phone Rockburn and book into the required session (Friday 11am-12pm)
  2. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Individual HERE (opens a new tab)
  3. Complete the Online Digital Waiver – Parent/Guardian HERE (opens a new tab)
  4. Complete an Instructed Session Form HERE (opens a new tab)
  5. Aim to arrive 5 minutes early for your first session.

A Quick Reminder…

All the documents required can be downloaded but we urge all to complete them online via our FORMS page to reduce paper reliance.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure to complete the relevant forms BEFORE you arrive – it saves both us and YOU a lot of time…nice one!
